Setting up your Apple Mac Internet Browser for Adapt

How to set up Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox for Adapt on your Apple Mac.

Setting up Mozilla Firefox

Ensure the latest version of Firefox is installed.

Pop-up Blocker 

Adapt opens certain items in a popup window. To enable popups:

1. Open Firefox

2. Click on Settings.

3. Click onto Content.

4. Remove tick in Block pop-up windows.

5. Close the Window.

Please note that some Toolbars block pop ups and therefore it may be necessary to change the settings on such Toolbars.

Open a Firefox Window

1. Type about:config in address bar.  

2. Filter on: dom.allow_scripts_to_close_windows 

This will show the current settings which have been applied.  

3. The setting needs to show as True.  

4. Double click to change between true/false.

Clearing the cache on Firefox

Prior to logging into Adapt for the first time, your browser cache will need to be cleared.

  • Click onto the ‘Settings’ option.

  • Select the ‘Advanced’ tab.

  • Click onto the ‘Network’ tab.

  • Within the section for Cached Web Content, click onto the “Clear now” button.

  • Click ‘OK ‘to close the window.

Setting up Google Chrome

Ensure the latest version of Chrome is installed.

Trusted Sites and Switching off pop-ups

  • Click onto the ‘customize and control Google Chrome’ menu button .This is located at the right-hand side of the address bar.

  • Click onto ‘Settings’. 

  • Scroll to the bottom and click onto the ‘Advanced’ hyperlink. 

  • Under the Privacy and security heading, click onto ‘Content Settings’.  

  • Click onto ‘Popups’.

  • Ensure Popups are set to ‘Allowed’.

  • Within the ‘Allow’ section, use ‘Add’ to add your system URL (e.g. http:\\172.16.x.xx, or your website address e.g. https://c8.adaptondemand.com) and press enter.

Clearing the cache on Chrome

Prior to logging into Adapt for the first time, your browser cache will need to be cleared.

  • Click onto the ‘customize and control Google Chrome’ menu button.

  • Select the ‘More Tools’ option. 

  • Select the ‘Clear browsing data’ option.

  • Tick the options and Click on the ‘Clear data’ button,
